What is Wicca?
Wicca is a earth based religion. It has been a religion for many years and now there are many of us who practice it. The Wiccan belief system is infused with the ways of life in a time period long before Jesus Christ was born. This was a time when pagans (country dwellers) celebrated a simple farming life where the earth was sacred and magic was simple. At this time, it wasn't labeled a religion, but a way of life, because everything from the earth, animals, sky, stars and even the people were all connected and very important. Everything was respected.
Wicca is considered a newer form of paganism. Since we live in a modern time, our celebrations can reflect that, but our beliefs in the connection of all things are very similar to early paganism.
Being a Wiccan means that we respect and honor the earth, and since we are deeply connected to her and her to us, we celebrating holiday's that match the seasons. This in turn also honors our Gods and Goddesses as we are all connected. These holiday's are called Sabbats. (There is a page to learn more about them in our website)
Another important part of our religion is we acknowledge a God AND a Goddess. She is our Earth and Moon mother. We celebrate her by honoring the earth and appreciating the bounty she provides, and by connecting to our moon and it's cycles. The Goddess is considered our Maiden, Mother and Crone (Grandmother). She brings us life and the patience to understand it.
Our God is our Sun God and Greenman (Earth God). He has more facets then the Christian God up in the sky. He warms our Mother Earth, providing her with the infusion of warmth to create life. He provides the strength and power to create. He is also our Green man/stag God protecting the animals, tree's, plants and the earth. He is our Son (SUN), father and Sage (Grandfather). He brings us wisdom and a direction in life.
Wiccans have different names for our Gods and Goddesses and their personalities are as different as they are, but all of them are special in their own way and soon enough you will find a Goddess and God that you really like a lot.

If the universe is an aspect of the Goddess and God...and you are made of the exact same material as the universe, does that mean that the you are part of the Goddess and God too?

Religion... so much to think about.. how can it be fun?
Well.. Wicca can be and our Gods and Goddesses have a funny sense of humor too! There are times when we need to be serious like during some of our celebrations as we don't want to be rude, but there are also ways to have fun being a Wiccan.
We like to enjoy our celebrations with meditations, song, dance, laughter and sometimes magic! Magic is another special part of being a Wiccan. Most Wiccans believe that we create the magic in our life by spells and incantations. Yes..we do! However, there are rules to follow and things to watch for. More on that later.
Being a Wiccan is not always easy. It can be hard work as you should learn all of this information, research stuff and take the time to celebrate the holiday's. Wiccan's believe in the phrase 'everything goes around, comes around'. This phrase is similar to one of our Redes which is 'Harm no one, do what you will".

It should, it is on the first page of this website! Wiccan's are always trying to become better people. Not easy to do, but it is worth it in the end.
