Over
the years, the Spiral Tree Grove Tradition has grown and spread it's
roots to other area's within RI, therefore creating Daughter and Sister
Hives. These are dedicated members within our Grove who completed the
Clergy program and have now branched out to form their own group.
There
are 2 types of Hives within our tradition.
Except for certain aspects of the hive that must be maintained to
respectfully continue the Tradition, either Hive can decide what type of
group/coven to run, the structure, member requirements, classes they
wish to teach (except for a handful that are specific to our Tradition)
and they can definitely, and should decorate it with their own specific
path.
Sister Grove- A STG "hive" where the
Winter Spirit branches out to form his/her new grove/coven.
-
Independent from the main group although
supported by the Elders within the Tradition.
-
Usually more than 5 members, but not
necessarily.
-
The Winter Spirit of the hive is considered an
Elder in the STG tradition and is treated with respect.
Daughter Grove- A STG "hive" where
the Winter Spirit has a "small" sub-group within a larger coven.
-
Usually no more then 5 members (space
consideration) otherwise Sister Hiving is suggested.
-
The Daughter Grove's members are usually part
of the Outer Grove of the "Main" group.
-
The Winter Spirit of the hive is considered an
Elder in the STG tradition and must take on
responsibility/active role within the Main Grove to have a hive
within said grove.
-
Elder is
treated with respect, is a sounding board in the main Grove.
-
Due to space
consideration, daughter Groves are done on a case-by-case-basis.
Regardless of what type of Hiving one does, each group has it's own
unique flavor and spirit while having the Spiral Tree Grove tradition
infused within their roots.

BERKANA GROVE
Warwick

Focuses
primarily on the deities and traditions of Northern Europe, in a
Wiccan format.
Would be a small ( less
than 5 members) ,regularly practicing (at least once
per month) group that would join with Our “parent” Grove for annual
Sabbats, but would practice independently
on a monthly basis for Moons or celebrations specific to the Northern
Path. Opportunities for independent as well as mutual study and personal
growth are always encouraged, and formal training in the Spiral Tree
Tradition would be considered
individually, on an
apprenticeship basis in the future.

Nora- Elder;
Winter Spirit (HPS) Berkana Grove
Nora
is our watery Northern Goddess and Winter Spirit/ clergy in our
tradition, a member of the BOD and one of the teachers within the
Grove. Nora has the
soft voice of reason for the Grove as she
is demure and hearth-like. Nora also has a surprising awesome
sense of humor that can make any situation bearable. When Nora
speaks... "everyone"
listens. (hehehe)! Her path has a distinctly Nordic flare, and she is
very knowledgeable of runes, crystals and stones. She is also an
amazing seamstress and artist as well. Nora's been on the pagan path
for over 20 plus years, mostly solitary, but now she is a grounding
force in our tradition. Nora has been running her "daughter" Berkana
Grove based in the Norse Wiccan Tradition for over 2 years. Nora has been with the Spiral Tree
Grove Tradition since 2002.

HORN AND CAULDRON

Wakefield/South County
Now accepting new members interested in the study and practice of
Wiccan tradition.
The group will focus on the spiritual aspects of
Wicca. We celebrate and work with the cycles of nature and life to
discover the mysteries within. Our goal is individual spiritual growth
and development through dynamic group study and practice of
magical/spiritual principles. In the tradition of Spiral Tree Grove, the
main emphasis in our tradition is Balance. We seek balance within the
feminine and masculine divine (God and Goddess), the elements and
energies within ourselves, the mundane and magical, and light and
shadow. Teaching is available free of charge for sincere seekers.

Gail-Elder; Winter Spirit (HPS) Horn & Cauldron
Gail
is a Winter Spirit/ clergy within our
tradition and has been running Horn & Cauldron for over a year.
She is our beautiful Spirit centered "Amaterasu", shining her
radiant light upon us all. She enjoys laughter, music,
chanting, ecstatic dancing and movement as a path to the sacred, and
she enjoys just sitting in the stillness. She loves trees, people,
sunshine and warm water. Gentle and kind, she is an excellent
listener and leader. Her creativity shines through in a ritual
setting, where she facilitates some unusual and interesting energy
work. Gail is also an herbalist as she completed the Herbal Earth
program back in 2006. As Gail branched out, she brings the essence of
the STG tradition with her to our "sister" Grove located in
Wakefield. Gail has been on the pagan path for over
13 years and she has been
with Spiral Tree Grove Tradition since 2004.
In
her words: My goal is to spiral the inner path to the center, to
become more open, fearless, and disciplined in the Craft and in my
personal life with others, and above all to work (and play) with
others to build a more peaceful and effective community.
Mundanely, Gail has two beautiful daughters who bring her great joy
as they become their own young women. Gail is a school
psychologist in a high school, which also brings her challenges and joy.

Our
thoughts....
Blessed
Be!
When Spiral Tree Grove was formed back in 2000, our intent was to
create a unique circle with teaching at the core of our tradition. Our
goal, simply stated, was (and continues to be) to plant and nurture the
seeds of our tradition, to inspire a sense of joy in communing with the
Gods and impart the wonder of the Mysteries to those who honor and
embrace the old ways and share our views. We hoped to find those who
wished to bring their own style, thoughts and personal wisdom to share
with our circle, and in return, carry our tradition into the future.
Trainee's have come and gone…but a few have shown the necessary
dedication & fortitude to complete our clergy training program. Now
they are a part of not only our Spiral, but as Winter Spirits (High
Priestess) and duly ordained clergy, they stride into the future,
taking with them the teachings of our tradition to pass onto to others.
Although we
encourage our students to consider starting their own circle, we never
demand them to 'branch' off - that is a choice that must be made with
an open mind, a clear heart and a great deal of strength. We have
learned from our owns trials the hard work, dedication, support and
perseverance needed to take that leap of faith, and we as the Grove
founders & Winter Spirit Balance strive to be not only mentors to our
former student, but friends and 'sisters' who know the challenges they
will face. They must learn many lessons that cannot be taught – only
experienced.
Although if they
do leave to branch out, we may feel a sense of loss and sadness as they
leave our spiral and begin to walk upon their own, we also feel a great
deal of pride in them, their accomplishments and desire to branch out
and plant their own seeds. Actually, pride doesn’t even begin to
describe how we feel…but we are humbly honored to have walked with with
our trainee's during their training, and are excited to see where their
new spiral path takes them and the Grove in the future. We thank all
our students for sharing their time, energy, wisdom and joy with us and
ask the Gods to guide them as they walk gently upon their new path.
Love & Blessings...
Melanie & Cheryl! (2009)
