Oh Bother!   Well if your name is POOH Bear then you are very forgetful! He is lucky that he can remember is name never mind remembering a magical one too!   So you are thinking about a magical name ey?   Well.... let me explain why us Wiccans have them. Just like our Book of Shadows that was kept 'hidden' year ago, magical names were also a way to keep people from knowing that we practiced the craft. This of course has changed and you don't need a name anymore, however most of us end up with one.    Why do we bother then?   Well, our magical name usually reminds us of the reason for our spiritual journey. You can use your magical name while writing in your Book of Shadows, talking to the Goddess and God or use it only in circle or when you attend a ritual with your parents.  NOW, you can't change your name your parents gave you as that name is one you must use at school and when you sign important things.   How Do you find a name???   A magical name is still very special and it should remain that way.   I wouldn't look to hard finding your name. Just like animal familiars who find you, your magical name will do the same.  You will know for sure, when you hear it. :-)     You can search through books, myths, fairy tales, stones, flowers, colors, animals or even look to the moon and stars in the sky. You can even combine a bunch of words together to create a name just for you!   Can you have a flower as a favorite name? Sure!   Your magical name is truly magical just like the Unicorn.   What do you do after you find it? Well you should write it in your Book of Shadows and write about 'how' you found the name and why it is special.
